To Saturday, November 21, 2015 - 05:00pm

About The Event

Declan O'Rourke and Paul Muldoon
Poems and Songs of the Great War
From Neuve Chapelle to NYC

Narrated by John Keating
Script by Myles Dungan

“Compassion, romance, a sense of mortality and a sense of history run through the songs of Declan O’Rourke…his calling is as a balladeer, proffering reassurance in the face of inevitable sorrow.” – Jon Pareles, The New York Times

“The most significant English-language poet born since the second World War.” – The Times Literary Supplement on Paul Muldoon

Best Irish Male Nominee
Meteor Ireland Awards

Singer-songwriter Declan O'Rourke, Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Paul Muldoon, and historian and broadcaster Myles Dungan come together to highlight “the pity of war” with a special engagement of music, poetry, and memory inspired by “The War to End All Wars."
Narrated by Dungan, the evening combines original compositions by O'Rourke and Muldoon—along with the poetry of Owen, Hardy, Kipling, Heaney, Longley and Ledwidge—with music from the trenches and songs of loss and longing by Ivor Novello (Keep The Home Fires Burning), Eric Bogle (And the Band played Waltzing Matilda), and other composers.
