On the evening of November 15th, the French-American Cultural Foundation will be hosting a major jazz concert at the Lisner Auditorium in downtown Washington, DC featuring both American and French jazz musicians. they will be playing American and French jazz standards and melodies that were popular between the two wars, and which remain in the playbook of many jazz artists. The concert will celebrate the members of the U.S. Army’s 369th Regimental Band, who introduced this uniquely American art form – jazz – to France in 1917. In addition to honoring the courage and bravery of these African-American soldiers, known as the Harlem Hell Fighters, the concert will highlight their extraordinary talent as jazz musicians. Tickets will go on sale in early September.
