100 Years of Remembrance

Tuesday, November 20, 2018, 07:00pm - 09:00pm

About The Event

100 Years of Remembrance

Produced by the New York Stereoscopic Association.

Scans of 3D Stereo Cards made from photos taken by French soldiers who were issued 3D cameras. Projected in 3D.

"100 Years of Remembrance" is an immersive audiovisual experience in honor of the centenary of Armistice. Viewers will be dropped straight into the action, from the trudge out to the Front to the scramble for gas masks in the trenches. From life in the dugouts to death by bombardment to recuperation in hospital. From No Man's Land to the memorials, cemeteries, and cenotaphs that still dot the Western Front a century on, this presentation conveys the life of a soldier in the Great War. Narrated by two disembodied voices - that of poet Wilfred Owen, reading his work, and that of his mother Susan, reading the letters she received from him - the totality and brutality that is now a century past will penetrate viewers' eyes and ears. The greatest in 19th century stereographic technologies are combined with the latest in 21st century digital presentation to allow an audience to join the Allied Forces for about an hour. Bringing the events of 1914-1918 to life, "100 Years of Remembrance" will provide a gateway to the past.
