Learn about the 34th “Red Bull” Infantry Division, a National Guard division based in Minnesota, and its WW1 stories. The division was formed in late summer 1917 and trained for many months at New Mexico's Camp Cody before arriving in France just before the 1918 Armistice. The division went on to have more days in combat during World War II than any other American division, and since September 11, 2001, “Red Bulls” have deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq. National Guard officers and experts will speak about the division's 100 years of service.
Forgotten Stories is a new series that brings together nationally known historians to explore forgotten WW1-era stories of the individuals and organizations who made modern America. Look for additional lectures offered each month through November. Following each program, guests are invited to take a 30-minute guided tour of the exhibit WW1 America.
