World War One and America - Further refinement of works-in-progress

Saturday, February 10, 2018, 01:00pm - 03:00pm

About The Event

The Clayton State Library is pleased to invite you to a series of unique writing workshops as part of our ongoing World War One and America programming. Inspired by the writings, speeches, and songs of men and women who lived during the WWI era, faculty representatives from Clayton State University’s Department of English will guide attendees through the process of creating original written works inspired by their own personal experiences. Participants may choose to create works of poetry, short fiction, creative non-fiction, or autobiographical narratives.

WWI & America Writing Workshops are open to everyone: veterans and non-veterans; Clayton State students and members of the surrounding community; novice and experienced writers. All workshops are free and open to the public. Participants may choose to attend one or all workshops, although we recommend attending at least two. In February, participants will be invited to share their original works at a public reading.

Workshop dates, times, and locations:
All workshops will take place on the main campus of Clayton State University in Morrow, GA.

Saturday, January 20, 1-3pm: General writing workshop and introduction to the series. Writer’s Studio (Arts & Sciences bldg., G-224)
Saturday, January 27, 1-3pm: Breakout session with selected genre. Writer’s Studio
Saturday, February 10, 1-3pm: Further refinement of works-in-progress. Writer’s Studio
Friday, February 16, 2-4pm: Reception and Live reading, Student Activities Center Ballroom A
