The Marne Valley was the site of some of the harshest fighting encountered by American soldiers during the "Great War." The Aisne-Marne American cemetery is home to 2,289 war dead, one of the largest burials of U.S. World War I soldiers. The Cemetery, and the nearby Marine Monument at the site of the Battle of Belleau Wood, will be the site of the commemoration.
