WWI Centennial at Memorial Hall - Honoring Phoenix Indian School Student Veterans

WWI Centennial at Memorial Hall - Honoring Phoenix Indian School Student Veterans.  A free WWI Centennial tribute program at Steele Indian School Park's historic Memorial Hall in Phoenix, Arizona. This building and its entry monument were dedicated to the 62 Phoenix Indian School students who had enlisted in the Army and Navy during this war.    The daytime program from 10am to noon will feature music by Territorial Brass and  R. Carlos Nakai, speakers, alumni families, a color guard and from noon to 3pm self-guided walking tours of the three historic school buildings at the park (turn of the 20th century Dining Hall will be of its exterior only). Steele Indian School Park is the former site of the Phoenix Indian School from 1891-1990. The park is managed and maintained by the City of Phoenix. The WWI Centennial program is presented by the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department in collaboration with park partners, Native American Connections and Phoenix Indian Center, of the Phoenix Indian School Visitor Center.
