Wheeling Armistice Centennial

A centennial observation of Armistice Day (now known as Veteran's Day) to be held on November 11, 2018 at 2 pm at the Spirit of the American Doughboy monument at Wheeling Park. Program will include: Presentation of Colors by Post 1, Post 89, VFW; National Anthem; Pledge of Allegiance; Opening Prayer; Poem- In Flanders Fields; Remarks by Wheeling Mayor Glenn Elliott; Brief History of Post 1 (Commander Powell); Keynote Speaker Dr. Hal Gorby, WVU (history of Wheeling in WWI); Recognition of Veterans and Families; Song - "Over There"; Closing Prayer; Laying of wreath (Mayor Elliott and Comm.
