Memories of World War I - A Symposium

Friday, November 9 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) Carlson Library, Room 1005

In this free and public daylong UT symposium, scholars from various disciplines and institutions discuss and critically examine local, national and international repercussions as well as cultural representations and memories of WWI. Clustered around three over-arching concepts “Impact, Identity, Innovation,” the symposium is divided into two morning sessions, and one afternoon session. The papers presented offer a wide variety of topics, ranging from local history to national and international history, as well as art, music, theater, gender, cross-dressing, and memory culture. Conference participants include UT faculty Steven Bare, James Campbell, Friederike Emonds, Barbara Floyd, Matt Forte, Matt Foss, Thor Mednick, Kim Nielsen, Linda Rouillard, and Dale Snauwaert as well as such members from the community as Michael McMaster, Richard Oliver, and Paula Reich.
