About The Event

1918-2018: A Century of International (Dis)Order? The Past, Present, and Future of American and European Values

2018 marks 100 years since the end of World War One when America and its European allies set out to create a new and better world. But rather than bringing order, they inadvertently brought disorder. What can we learn from history? How can we set up sustainable international order based on American and European values? How can we establish a more successful international order for the 21st century, as the world once again stands at the crossroads of change?

The Bipartisan Policy Center is partnering with the University of Aberdeen, Scotland for this event. Founded in 1495, Aberdeen is one of 40 ancient universities in the world with an ambitious international outlook.

Featuring:

Stephen Collinson | Senior White House Reporter, CNN Politics

Maj Seth A. Johnston, U.S. Army | Council on Foreign Relations
International Affairs Fellow and Visiting Scholar, Center for European Studies, Harvard University; Former Task Force Commander with the NATO Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan; Author, How NATO Adapts: Strategy and Organization in the Atlantic Alliance since 1990

Thomas Weber | Professor of History and International Relations and Director, Center for Global Security and Governance, University of Aberdeen, Scotland; Author, Becoming Hitler: The Making of a Nazi
