The Brooklyn Art Song Society performs “In Memoriam: Songs of the Great War,” a program featuring works by British composers whose lives were cut tragically short by World War I: William Dennis Browne, George Butterworth and Ivor Gurney. The performers for this program include Missouri-native tenor Dominic Armstrong, baritone Jarrett Ott and pianist and BASS artistic director Michael Brofman. Veterans Day at the World War I Memorial Carillon

The Richmond Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Facilities will hold its annual Veterans Day program on Tuesday, November 10, at the World War I Memorial Carillon in Byrd Park. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a concert on the Carillon bells by Carillonneur Larry Robinson, and will continue with patriotic music by The Bellini Sisters, recognition of The Memorial Rifles, and a presentation titled “The Last mission of World War II” by Dr. Dean Decker. The Western Front Association East Coast Branch (USA) presents a special screening of the documentary film Pershing’s Last Patriot: The Frank Buckles Story. Released in 2013, this documentary examines the remarkable life of America’s last surviving veteran of World War 1 – Frank Buckles. The film will be shown at the historic Maryland War Memorial Building in Baltimore which was opened in 1925 as a memorial to those who gave their lives in World War 1.
