DESCRIPTION:The Hicksville World War I Centennial Ceremony will take place in our town'
 s beautiful monument area, to which we are adding another granite marker at
  the ceremony. During the war, Hicksville had three young men die on the sa
 me day. The ceremony will last from 1:00pm to 2:00pm and feature various sp
 eakers, including Mitch Yockelson. \nSpeaker Mitchell "Mitch" A. Yockelson 
 is a military historian and archivist. The author of four books, most recen
 tly Forty-Seven Days: How Pershing’s Warriors Came of Age to Defeat the Ger
 man Army during World I. Yockelson is Historian for the United States World
  War One Centennial Commission and will talk about the forty-seven day Meus
 e-Argonne battle that involved more than 1.2 million American troops, inclu
 ding veterans from Hicksville.\nEvent will take place at the Veteran’s Memo
 rial, Corner of North Bryan Street and West Arthur Street. The Edward C. Sm
 art post plans to hold a dinner at 5:00 p.m. after the ceremony.\n
