  COMMEMORATE ARMISTICE CENTENNIAL</strong></p><p>The Morris County Heritage
  Commission will present a program to commemorate the Armistice, “The 11<su
 p>th</sup> Hour of the 11<sup>th</sup> Day of the 11<sup>th</sup> Month.”&n
 bsp; The program will take place on Saturday, November 10, from 10 a.m. to 
 3:45 p.m. at the Morris County Library.&nbsp; Special exhibits and presenta
 tions throughout the day will remember and honor the men and women who serv
 ed in the First World War.</p><p>Presentations on a variety of subjects rel
 ating to the Great War and the Armistice will be held in the county library
 ’s large meeting room.&nbsp; Speaking on the Versailles Treaty will be Mend
 ham High School history teacher Steve Santucci.&nbsp; Vivian Davis, living 
 history educator, will discuss the role of women in the war.&nbsp; Re-enact
 or John Torkos will talk about the soldiers returning home and the challeng
 es they faced adjusting again to civilian life.&nbsp; The founding of the A
 merican Legion following the Great War will be presented by American Legion
  Morris County Commander Amery Vasso.</p><p>At 11 a.m., the Air Force Assoc
 iation will present a lithograph by renowned aviation artist and Morris Cou
 nty resident Keith Ferris to the Morris County Heritage Commission.&nbsp; T
 he lithograph, depicting Captain Eddie Rickenbacker flying his bi-plane wil
 l be on permanent display at the Morris County Library.</p><p>On view at th
 e county library that day and throughout the month of November will be two 
 special exhibits, one of World War I posters and one featuring women’s serv
 ice uniforms and artifacts of the era.&nbsp; The exhibits are co-hosted by 
 the Morris County Library and the Morris County Heritage Commission.</p><p>
 Armistice Day is commemorated every year on November 11 to mark the armisti
 ce signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne, Franc
 e, ending the hostilities on the Western Front. &nbsp;The Armistice took ef
 fect at 11 a.m. on November 11, the "eleventh hour of the eleventh day of t
 he eleventh month" of 1918.&nbsp; Armistice Day coincides with Remembrance 
 Day in Commonwealth of Nations member states and Veterans Day in the US.</p
 ><p>The Morris County Heritage Commission is an advisory body of the Morris
  County Board of Chosen Freeholders.&nbsp; It facilitates understanding and
  preservation of Morris County's diverse history by promoting awareness of 
 Morris County's heritage and acknowledging its cultural diversity through e
 ducation and communications; by maintaining the Morris County Archives and 
 ensuring their preservation and accessibility; and by providing advice and 
 support to local historical and historic preservation organizations through
