Armistice Bell Ringing Ceremony
In 1918, on the 11th day, in the 11th month, at the 11th hour, the Allies and Central Powers agreed to a cease fire that would mark the end of World War One. The National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. will hold a bell ringing ceremony at 11 am on Sunday, Nov. 11th, 2018 to commemorate the centennial of the Armistice. Local churches, schools, courthouses, and other entities are invited to participate at the time of this nationwide occasion at each respected time zone.

Beaumont Tower Honors Armistice Day

Armistice Bell Ringing Ceremony
As part of an international commemoration, MSU’s Beaumont Tower will join other carillons around the world in performing music commissioned to honor the 100th Anniversary of Armistice Day. The work, titled “A Sacred Suite,” a triptych on Gregorian themes by the renowned Flemish carillonneur and composer Geert D'hollander, will be performed by MSU Assistant Carillonneur Laurie Harkema. The ceremony will also include American patriotic music and arrangements of European melodies.
Free and open to the public.
