May 31 - June 5, 1918: served in combat at Aisne Llef.

June 6 - July 9, 1918: served in combat at Chateau Thierry

June 8: poison gassed, requiring hospitalization

July 18 - 19, 1918: served in combat at Aisne Monne

July 18: witnesses death of fellow Poultney youth Cpl. J. Claire Carmody

Sept. 12 - 16, 1918: served in combat at St. Mihiel

Sept. 30: Pvt. Hughes wounded at Champagne, France

October 7 - 10, 1918: served in combat at Meuse – Argonne

November 1 - 11, 1918: served in combat at Meuse – Argonne

August 13, 1919: Llewelyn Isaac Hughes honorably discharged
