44 Days to Go. A Veteran's Day Tribute is Underway. No Ice Buckets Involved

The U.S. World War One Centennial Committee is joining the Veteran's Administration, Arlington National Cemetery, the American Battle Monuments Commission, and a host of public and private organizations to raise awareness for Veterans Day.

The Veterans Day national holiday takes place on November 11th and marks the date of the Armistice which ended the fighting in World War I.

Get on board by using the simple hashtag #CountdownToVeteransDay, and by linking your social media efforts.

"We feel that one day a year is not enough to talk about veterans" said Dan Dayton, Executive Director of the WWI Centennial Commission. "With the countdown, we want all Americans to help us raise awareness of the significance of the day and to find great ways to thank our Vets."

Upper Midwest Region Organizing Meeting

Last week the Pritzker Military Museum and Library (PMML) in Chicago hosted a meeting of representatives from the Upper Midwest Region--that’s Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky,Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, Tennessee, South Dakota, and Wisconsin--to talk about organizing in states for the Centennial Commemoration.

If you weren't able to make it, there's a recording of the Livestream broadcast in our video library, that you may find useful as you organize in your state or region.

7 States to Go
