AFS (formerly the American Field Service) works toward a more just and peaceful world by providing international and intercultural learning experiences to individuals, families, schools, and communities through a global volunteer partnership.
AFS was born in World War I as a volunteer ambulance and medical corps supporting the Allied war effort. It has developed programs and educational materials highlighting U.S. volunteerism in WWI.
