Howard County in World War I
The Howard County Historical Society is asking the community to bring in anything that they might have that would relate to Howard County's involvement in the war such as letters, photos, objects, etc. There will be an exhibit showcasing these items to tell the story of Howard County's involvement in The Great War.
The Howard County Historical Society has World War I artifacts in their collection. Another great World War I resource pertaining to Howard County is the book "Howard County in the World War" written by former Kokomo School Superintendent C.V. Haworth in 1920.
Very comprehensive, "Howard County in the World War" includes organizations contributing to the war effort and an explanation of the projects and/or donations they made. It lists as many of the soldiers as they knew of who were in the service from Howard County.
The Howard County Historical Society will put these borrowed or donated items on exhibit to tell the story of Howard County's war involvement. On October 17th, 2017, the Howard County Historical Society will have a program that will be open to the public to showcase the artifacts and re-enact the war effort put forward by Howard County.
