T.W.Koch and the Library War Service

University of Michigan Librarian Theodore W. Koch before U.S. involvement in World War I,played an instrumental role in ensuring that scientific publications from Germany and other combatants continued to be available to American researchers by visiting Great Britain. He helped to organized a program to provide books to American soldiers in the trenches with the American Library Association similar to the British program. This program was known as the Library War Service.
Learn about this organization and how it help to win the war. The out growth of this program is the American Library in Paris which is still operating today and promote Franco-American relations.
